Support our research
WHY SUPPORT RESEARCH?
Cerebral palsy the most common physical disability in childhood.
Each hour, a baby is born that will get the diagnosis of CP. In the last years, much international efforts from World leaders, including our team, are making progress in bringing the incidence of CP down! This is great news, but much more work is to be done to diagnose risk for disabilities early, provide support to the family, early and continued interventions, and surveillance of primary and associated problems.

Research is an integral part of finding the best answers for families that need support. Through research, we not only identify the best interventions and translate that knowledge into clinical care, but also find the most feasible and effective ways to support families throughout their journey.
To bring down the incidence and severity of CP and related disorders, and to work towards improved quality of life for the entire family, we continue our efforts in clinical and research activities.
You can be a part of this!
The not-for-profit Association La Stella dei piccoli ONLUS was established in 2016 thanks to the support of many parents of our little patients and the neonatology team at the Santa Chiara Hospital in Pisa.

The primary purpose of the Association is to support the SMILE lab team in clinical research efforts. Feel free to review the document related to the establishment of the ONLUS here: l'Atto Costitutivo e lo Statuto.
